The Future Lab is an interactive teaching facility encouraging public attraction to educate, entertain and inspire, to be built at Dreamworld’s Corroboree precinct. A functioning state of the art laboratory undertaking vital work in the science of strengthening endangered species populations.
The facade envelope builds on the techniques demonstrated in Ben Pell’s book The Articulate Surface: Ornament and Technology in Contemporary Architecture. Using analogue techniques such as re-drawing, cutting, photocopying and using a graphic software program.
The tessellated graphic of Queensland's Phyllurus gulbaru (Gulbaru gecko) overlayed on the perforated cast-iron facade, brings attention to the threats posed by unmanaged burning which continues to reduce the amount of suitable habitat available causing this species to become critically endangered.
